What a night! On September 17, more than 100 Blue Hills supporters came together at the Irish Cultural Centre to celebrate the place that gives all of us a chance to escape. We’re so happy so many Friends could join us for a fun night under the tent.

Your support at the Great Escape helps Friends of the Blue Hills care for the land, connect people with the park, and build a future where everyone can find a sense of belonging in the Blue Hills.

Our Community Really Came Through

This year’s annual celebration welcomed more members, donors, and supporters under the tent than we’ve seen since 2023, raising more than $30,000 for the park. The silent auction was a huge hit, with people bidding on 53 items and experiences donated from individuals and businesses all over the area specifically for this event.

Event sponsors came from so many corners of our community, including construction, auto sales, insurance, healthcare, banking, retail, and more.

As always, special raffles were part of the fun, with Judy S. winning the monster scratch ticket board and Katherine B. bringing home $228 from the 50/50 raffle. And, after weeks of suspense, the winner of the Dream Dinner Raffle for up to 6 people was drawn at the end of the night. Jennifer W. will be planning her special night on the shores of Ponkapoag with Chef Marc Sheehan of Northern Spy when spring rolls back around.

Your Presence Translates Into Impact

It’s wonderful when an evening of food, music and camaraderie is so supportive of helping FBH:

  • Care for trails, walkways, and other park infrastructure
  • Provide training for new trail leaders
  • Protect and restore natural habitats
  • Bring students and community members into the Blue Hills for guided experiences and conservation education
  • Advocate for a well-cared-for, accessible Blue Hills for all of us

Kudos for Everyone Who Made This Event Possible

From sponsors and silent auction donors to volunteers and partners who provided essential goods and services for this event, thank you! We hope you especially enjoyed the community dessert table with donations by Sweet Piglet in Randolph and Fratelli’s Pastry Shop and Roots and Roasts in Quincy.

Keep the Celebration Going

The October 10th Sunset Hike & Hilltop Concert will keep the party vibe going with live music at the top of Great Blue, and a chance to experience the Blue Hills a bit “after dark.”

We hope to see you there!
